I'm having a big baby.

"My obsetrician has told me that I have a big baby and that I should have a C-section. do you have any advice?"
- My Response -
Sometimes it is really scary to hear that you're having a big baby. I was told the same thing when I was Week 38 of my pregnancy and it freaked me out. It might be helpful to hear this quote from the Big Babies website...
"I heard a great analogy from an obstetrician once, that likened trying to predict the size of a baby before birth, by ultrasound, to trying to guess the weight of a man, sitting in a bath full of water, in the room next door by measuring his waist and thigh bone. When you look at it like that it really does become apparent how ludicrous these gross measures we use are!"

Above all, remember that a big baby, in general, is a good thing and so long as you and the baby are in good health there is no reason what-so-ever why you should not give birth naturally. Don't give into the scare tactics - educate yourself first before you make any serious medical decisions, such as elective caesarean section.
All the best!
